Modern Dental, renowned for their quality dental prosthetics, approached Dispersed to conduct an in-depth Scope 3 assessment. The question focussed specifically on the environmental footprint of their product distribution network, identifying key areas for improvement.
Challenges and Approach
The main challenge lay in dissecting the complex web of Modern Dental's supply chain, which spanned may different transportation routes and logistics practices across multiple countries. Using the data-driven principles of LCA, we took the following approach:
Mapping the Supply Chain: We conducted a comprehensive mapping of the transportation routes involved in the distribution of Modern Dental's products.
Identifying Key Impact Areas: Through our detailed analysis, we pinpointed the routes and methods contributing most significantly to the overall carbon footprint.
Developing Sustainable Alternatives: In addition to identification of impacts, we suggested alternative routes and shipping methods that can significantly reduce the environmental impacts of distribution.
Results and Impact
Our LCA provided Modern Dental with a detailed view of their Scope 3 emissions, previously a grey area in their sustainability efforts. More importantly, our study offered practical and actionable insights:
